Dr. Og’s journey to becoming a psychiatric mental health provider is one of resilience, faith, and purpose. Born into poverty in Nigeria, he worked as a bus conductor and construction laborer as a child just to help his family survive. In 2007, he won the U.S. Visa Lottery and arrived in America with little more than a dream.
Starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Dr. Og worked his way through nursing school, earning his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC), and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certifications—all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
He served his adopted country as an Active Duty Family Nurse Practitioner in the U.S. Army, where he provided primary care to soldiers and their families. Today, Dr. Og is board-certified in both family medicine and psychiatric mental health.
What sets Dr. Og apart is his personal mental health journey. Since leaving the military, he has faced and continues to recover from depression, anxiety, and PTSD—receiving care at his local VA hospital. This lived experience allows him to connect with patients on a deeply personal level, offering not just clinical expertise but genuine empathy and understanding.
Dr. Og is a proud father, a pianist and music minister at his church, and the founder of STEVEWORLD OUTREACH, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting poverty and providing healthcare to underserved communities.
